
Soltilo Bright Stars FC find themselves engulfed in the relegation fight and every point at the moment matters.
As the second of the 2024/25 season got underway, Bright Stars will hope to give the relegation fight all their might.
It was the case on Wednesday as the team needed to come from a goal down to secure a point against Maroons at the Luzira Prisons Ground.
Felix Okot fired Maroons FC into ten minutes into the second half but the visitors were able to get the equalizer with goalkeeper Simon Tamale howler gifting Bright Stars.
The first half was cagey with either side opting for a cautious approach.
The first realistic opportunity fell to Maroons defender Denis Rukundo in the 23rd minute but goalkeeper Shamuran Kamya was able to deny him from close range.
On the other hand, Shafik Kakande had two chances before the break but headed wide on both occasions.
The deadlock was broken in the 58th minute with Okot slotting home direct from a well taken free kick.
Bright Stars were able to find the equalizer in the 79th minute with goalkeeper Tamale fumbling Paskali Oketcho’s free kick into his own net.
The result leaves Soltilo Bright Stars second from bottom on 11 points while Maroons FC stay in seventh place on 23 points.
