Soltilo Bright Stars FC earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over UPDF FC to boost their hopes of moving out of the relegation mix where they currently languish.

The team has endured a terrible start to the season but eventually were able to taste victory again today at Kavumba Recreation Centre.

Victory against UPDF FC is only the second win for Soltilo Bright Stars FC this season who still remain rooted at the base of the league with nine points.

A good start, saw the hosts exerting pressure and it eventually paid off dividends with two quick goals midway through the first half.

First, Warren Buule headed home in the 31st minute before Ashraf Mulindi doubled the advantage a minute later.

The visitors pulled one back at the stroke of halftime with Samuel Ssekamatte converting from the spot.

Despite efforts from UPDF FC after recess, the home side held out to claim all three points.

The results leaves UPDF FC in seventh place on 17 points while Soltilo Bright Stars remain bottom but on nine points same as Mbale Heroes FC and Wakiso Giants FC.
