British boxing chief Robert Smith has responded to some serious allegations made by Floyd Schofield’s dad.
Schofield Jr was set to challenge Shakur Stevenson for his WBC lightweight title on a stacked Saudi bill on Saturday night.

Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol‘s rematch for the undisputed light heavyweight titles headline a card that was set to include five world title fights and two interim title clashes.
However, that number has now dropped following the shock announcement that Stevenson vs Schofield Jr has been called off.
Schofield was already in Saudi Arabia at the start of fight week but was a mysterious no-show for the grand arrivals on Tuesday.
It then came out on Tuesday night that Schofield had been deemed medically unfit to compete after being admitted to hospital.
It came amid wild accusations from his father that his son had been ‘poisoned’.
In a statement given to talkSPORT.com, Schofield Sr said: “Floyd will be ok and make a full recovery… Someone tried to kill him.”
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) are sanctioning the show and made the final call to withdraw Schofield Jr.
General Secretary of the BBBofC Robert Smith then joined White and Jordan on talkSPORT to respond to Schofield Jr’s allegations.
“All I can tell you is that he went to a hospital and he’s been deemed not to box,” he said.
“Of course, it concerns me. It concerns me a lot about what the parents say when they don’t know the full facts.

“When we get the full facts we will be able to find out what the full situation is.
“At the moment we don’t know other than the fact that the kid is unfit to box.
“But of course, it concerns me what people say. People can throw things out there all the time and then we have to look into, which we will.”
Expanding on the situation, Smith added: “I received a telephone call early this morning from his team saying that they were concerned about his health.
“He was taken to hospital for a number of checks, it was decided that he wasn’t in a position to box on medical grounds and therefore he has been withdrawn by the boxing board of control so he is not boxing on Saturday.
“I can’t talk to you about medical issues, you know that. All I know is that he has been taken to hospital.

“He has gone through a number of our tests and the doctors are not happy for him to box and therefore he is not boxing.
“It is done for the safety of the boxer, I cannot speak about the medical grounds.”
It has since been confirmed that Josh Padley will replace Schofield Jr.
Padley (15-0) handed Mark Chamberlain the first defeat of his professional career in September on the Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois undercard at Wembley Stadium.
He is a former BBBofC Central Area lightweight champion and has never fought anyone near the level of Stevenson.
