Bukayo Saka has claimed this season is Arsenal’s time to win the Premier League again.

The forward made the bold claims after the Gunners claimed a comfortable 2-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

England star Saka scored one of the goals, with Kai Havertz getting the other, as Arsenal impressed for keeping one of European football’s big hitters at bay.

Mikel Arteta’s men will be one of the leading contenders for the top European prize, but they’ve got their eyes on Premier League glory too.

They may have fallen short when up against Manchester City over the last two seasons but steely comments by Saka firmly suggest the Arsenal camp believes they’ll go one better this time.

When asked by Gunners legend Thierry Henry if Arsenal can win a first league title in over 20 years this term, Saka responded: “I don’t want to put too much pressure on us but I do think this is the year.

“I think we’ve been close the last two years, and we’re getting close, but yeah this will hopefully be the year.”

The response led to Henry’s fellow CBS Sports pundit Jamie Carragher let out a high pitched noise as a result of the big claim.

And Henry was also impressed by Saka’s confidence, saying: “You’re captain, I like that. I like the way that you’re speaking tonight.”

Arsenal are third in the Premier League table, a point off leaders Liverpool, with 14 points from a possible 18.

Saka and co. showed they have the ability to take on the best in the land as they narrowly missed out on a win at champions City, who scored a stoppage-time equaliser in what was a 2-2 draw last month.

And they’re looking good in Europe having obtained four points from their opening two group phase games. Their first result saw them get a useful point at Atalanta.

The win over PSG saw Arsenal end a run spanning almost nine years which sees the French giants fail to score in a Champions League group match in 51 games.

Commenting on the squad’s newfound attitude of ‘win at all costs’, Saka told Amazon Prime Sport: “I see a lot of people speak about us and the way we play.

“But for us it’s about results, different games have different contexts and we have to do whatever it takes, and win in any context.

“Whether we can win on set pieces, whether we can win playing our beautiful football, whatever it takes, we just want to win.”

Arsenal have won 13 top flight league titles in their history, including three in the Premier League era.

The last of which came in the 2003/04 season, which saw Arsene Wenger’s side go the entire league season unbeaten.
