BUL Football Club overcame a hard-fighting Kitara regional side Bugoigo Leopards 3-1 during the round of 32 in the 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the Gaddafi Arena in Jinja city.
The hosts recovered from a goal down, scored as early as the fourth minute to overturn the match.
The lead was well protected until towards the hour mark during the match played under intense sunny conditions.
Oscar Fred tapped home from close range past goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa off a well squared ball by Alfred Kizza to boss the game in the opening stanza.
Bul skipper George Kasonko was withdrawn inside the opening 20 minutes with Isaac “Messi” Musiima takking over his place.
With this change, Pascal Ngobi took over the captaincy role.
BUL winger Ibrahim Orit had three opportunities thwarted in the first half and forward Karim Ndugwa had a header foiled by Bugoigo Leopards’ goalkeeper Robert Oyirwoth in added minutes of the first half.
Bakali Magunda, Karim Ndugwa and super subsistute Viane Ssekajugo scored three second half goals to grant victory for Abbey Kikomeko’s coached side.

At the commencement of the second half, BUL made a double change; Orit was rested for Martin Aprem and Swabiri Mpasa came on for Jeromy Kirya.
Ten minutes into the second half, Ndugwa had a free header hit the lower right post.
On the hour mark, Musiima drove a distant free-over the goal posts before Reagan Kalyowa was denied by the goalkeeper Oyirwoth from close range and Aprem shot wide the rebound inside the goal area.
This was the last contribution for Kalyowa before he was replaced by left footer Lawrence “Enzo” Tezikya and defender Benon Tahomera also got rested for the free legs of Viane Ssekajugo.
BUL got their equalizer with 20 minutes left on the clock when Musiima’s inviting corner kick was connected home by Magunda, to the relief of the home fans.
Seven minutes ahead, Ndugwa headed Aprem’s perfectly weighted ball into the area for BUL’s lead.

Ssekajugo beat the advancing goalkeeper Oyirwoth just outside the goal area for the third goal well celebrated in the 80th minute.
By this time, the job had been executed and mission of progressing to the round of 16 eventually accomplished in style with a remarkable comeback.
BUL had progressed to this stage following a 1-0 win on the road over fourth division side Garuga Stars.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Police progressed at the expense of fellow topflight team Soltilo Bright Stars following a 2-0 victory at Kavumba Recreational Stadium.
Kataka won 1-0 against visiting Odramachako at the Mbale City stadium whilst Lugazi overcame Calvary 2-0 away in Yumbe.
The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup qualifies to represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.
