Burnley vs Middlesbrough prediction
Burnley are the favourites but at quite a big price considering they’re at home, in second place and in a great position as they’ve only lost twice.
But they do face a Boro side who sit just six points behind having won four of their last five in the Championship.
As a result though, Burnley are tough not to back at this price of 5/4 – which is down to 6/5 if you want to bet on them with the perk of an early payout if they go two up.
They will have to be on the lookout for the third top scorer and joint fourth top scorer in the division in Tommy Conway and Emmanuel Latte Lath who have eight and seven goals respectively.
Conway’s got to eight goals in just 14 appearances too which makes him a top candidate to make things interesting at Turf Moor on Friday night.
If that’s not bad enough for Burnley Finn Azaz is also amongst the top scorers in the division with six goals, along with seven assists in 17 appearances in the competition.
That’s got to be part of the reason for the price of Burnley on the night too, as Boro have been ruthless up front in their last seven or so games, scoring 3, 4, 5, then 6 before going goalless at home to Blackburn before returning to plenty of goals scoring three past Hull last Saturday.
Burnley vs Middlesbrough betting tip
Boro have to face Leeds next Tuesday so they will be after a couple of decent results to help their December go well as they look to edge their way closer to the top few in the division.
Burnley have only lost twice this season though and they’ve been proven difficult to get past as well.
Keeping a clean sheet in each of their last five games with as many as 11 clean sheets for Burnley keeper James Trafford.
So it will be a great match-up between a top defence and an in-form attack.
Despite the value of a Burnley win, both sides come here with a lot to gain and a lot to lose, a draw might be the best bet on the night given how they could cancel each other out.
- Draw – 9/4 on Sky Bet
- Under 2.5 goals, Finn Azaz to score or assist – 7/1 on Sky Bet
