Busitema University attained their first win of the 2024-2025 Pepsi University Football League, overcoming the reigning champions Nkumba University 1-0 on Sunday, 3rd November 2024.
Shannon Owino scored as early as the first minute of the game that was well defended.
Owino converted after Derrick Waduuma’s assist.
The game witnessed three cautions; two of Busitema University’s Abudallah Kyenyi and Shannon Owino as well as Nkumba University’s Solomon Bwiruka.
Busitema University secured their second win of the season to make it six points at the half way stage of the league, as they are now second in group A.
Group A is led by Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) with seven points. Busitema University is second on six points, Nkumba University is third with four points and ISBAT University is yet to win a game.
Dr Agnes Baluka Masajja (PhD), the Deputy Chief Sports for Busitema University was delighted with the result and asserts that Busitema University Football ground is a Boons Den for Champions.
“There is no way we would allow the Champion go unbeaten. Busitema University promises to beat Nkumba University at the Beach ground come February 2025. My boys are good, I believe with fair officiating, no team can beat us.” Dr. Baluka remarked.
The league takes a break until February 2025 for the second round.
