Campbell Hatton has now suffered back-to-back defeats.

The son of boxing legend Ricky Hatton‘s professional boxing career is in huge jeopardy in the very early stages as he was beaten again by Jimmy Joe Flint on Saturday night in Manchester.

Earlier this year, Hatton suffered his first career loss as Flint beat him on points.

The 23-year-old took himself down to London to work with Barry Smith and Ben Davison in response, then signed to rematch his old foe.

In the meantime, Flint had another bout in June, which he lost.

Following this defeat, he agreed to take on Hatton again.

The fight began with a scrappy first round as Flint appeared initially more accurate.

Hatton responded well in the second but then faced early adversity as he was cut over his left eye from a head clash.

The 23-year-old was not overawed though and came out firing in round three.

He backed Flint up into his own corner midway through the round and began to put combinations together.

Hatton did not remain in control for long though as the bout went back-and-forth.

The fifth was particularly tough for him as Flint landed consistently to head and body.

Despite his corner imploring him too, Hatton seemed unable to apply consistent head movement in the middle rounds.

As a result, his cut was repeatedly leaking – a source of frustration for him.

Hatton battled on regardless and as they entered the final few rounds of the ten-round contest, it seemed as though it could go either way.

In the end though, Flint finished the stronger and even seemed to hurt Hatton in the final round.

The judges therefore awarded him a unanimous decision victory with scores of 97-94, 96-94 an 96-95.

Hatton is now 14-2 and facing a long, long road back to major relevance in the boxing world following this second crushing defeat.
