Cardiff are weighing up whether to sack manager Erol Bulut, talkSPORT understands.

The Bluebirds have taken just one point from their first five Championship games.

As a result, Cardiff are sitting rock-bottom of the table and is their worst start in 35 years.

In that time they have scored just one goal and conceded 11 times.

Sources say the atmosphere in the dressing room has become very negative with senior players are now questioning Bulut’s training methods.

Cardiff suffered their fourth league defeat of the season as they fell to a 1-0 loss against Derby County at the weekend.

Bulut snubbed post-match media duties after that defeat with pressure around his position intensifying.

Things don’t get any easier for Cardiff either, with a home clash against Leeds United next up.

The German-born, Turkish boss took charge at the Cardiff City Stadium in the summer of 2023 and led the team to 12th place in the Championship last term.

That included victories in three of their four derby clashes against Swansea City and Bristol City.

As a result of their season, Bulut was handed a new two-year contract in June, however it appears doubtful that he’ll now last that long.

Bulut had previously managed Alanyaspor and Fenerbahce before spending 19 months with another Turkish top-tier side, Gaziantep.

He left Gaziantep in January 2023 before joining the Bluebirds that summer, replacing Sabri Lamouchi as boss.

Cardiff’s poor start to the season has been amplified by the positive result picked up by Plymouth.

Wayne Rooney’s side recorded their first Championship victory of the season with a surprise 1-0 win over promotion contenders Sunderland.

Such was the magnitude of the win, it led to wild celebrations from from Rooney and his backroom team as they jumped up the table and away from the relegation zone.
