Cardiff v West Brom prediction
Cardiff were the only side in the bottom four of the Championship not to win their Easter Monday clash which has piled on the pressure of their final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon against a West Brom side still with an outside chance of the play-offs.
Monday saw the Bluebirds held to a 1-1 draw at home against Oxford in what was Aaron Ramsey’s first game in caretaker charge of the club following Omer Riza’s sacking after defeat at Sheffield United on Good Friday.
The Easter weekend’s results means that the Welsh side currently sit three points from safety in the Championship’s relegation zone with only two matches to play, and aren’t helped by their goal difference which is considerably worse than those outside the bottom three.
Cardiff have won just one of their last 11 matches in all competitions and are winless in each of their last six ahead of the visit of another managerless side this weekend.
No team have lost more games at home in the second tier this season than the Bluebirds, who have picked up just two points from their last five games at the Cardiff City Stadium.
West Brom make the trip to the Welsh capital on Saturday afternoon in some dire form of their own, with just one win in their last eight and five defeats in their last six putting the writing on the wall for manager Tony Mowbray, who was sacked following their 3-1 home defeat by Derby on Monday.
Those five defeats in six has seen the Baggies drop out of the top six to where they now sit, down in 10th place with six points shy of the play-offs with two games to go, though their healthy goal difference means there could still be an outside chance of a top six finish should they were their last two games and other results go their way.
The West Midlands side will be managed by James Morrison on Saturday, who takes over a side without a win away from home in any competition since early November, 15 games ago, and with three away defeats on the spin.
Two desperately out of form sides meet at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but with more on the line for the home side, I expect Cardiff to secure what could be a vital three points. I’m predicting a 2-1 home win.

Cardiff v West Brom bet builder
Cardiff to win, both teams to score, Yousef Salech to score, Jayson Molumby to be carded – 24/1 with Betano
Both teams are out of form heading into Cardiff’s final home game of the season, but the hosts have more on the line as they battle for their lives to avoid relegation, while West Brom haven’t won away from home since November.
Yousef Salech has proven to be one of the best January signings in the second tier as with the Danish striker bagging his seventh goal since his move from Sweden in Cardiff’s 1-1 draw with Oxford on Monday.
Only four players have received more cards than West Brom’s Jayson Molumby in the Championship this season, and Saturday’s game will be his first game back after serving a three match suspension following his sending off against Bristol City.
