Match Summary:

  • Singapore 82 all out
  • Uganda 83/3 all out
  • Uganda won by 7 wickets

Cricket Cranes were in dominant form against Singapore at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe winning the Challenge League B opener by 7 wickets.

Singapore won the toss, elected to bat, and started well with the openers putting on an opening stand of 46 before losing their first wicket.

However, the wicket was the sliding door moment for the home side as Singapore lost the next 9 wickets for only 39 runs, finishing on 82 all out in 38.4 overs. It was a major batting collapse that put the visitors on the back foot.

In the run chase, Raghav Dhawan perished without troubling the scorers holing out in the deep and Shrideep Mangela followed him after he miscued a half-tracker.

However, Kenneth Waiswa (26) dug deep, first with Robinson Obuya (19) and later with Captain Riazat Ali Shah (24) to see off the game inside 18 overs.

This was a morale-boosting win for Uganda and a great start to their journey to the 2027 World Cup.

Uganda lived up to the favourites tag in this encounter. Uganda will face Tanzania in their next game on Saturday.

Singapore left runs on the table, they didn’t have enough runs to bowl at, and ultimately that cost them the game.
