Most eyes in England will be on Manchester City’s match against Sporting in Lisbon which sees Ruben Amorim take charge of his penultimate match as manager of the hosts, and the his final home game, before replacing Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager next week.
Back in Blighty, Xabi Alonso, who was the early favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool boss in the summer, returns to the club, w with whom he lifted the Champions League trophy in 2005, as manager of German champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool are one of only two teams, along with Aston Villa, to have won all three of their Champions League matches so far, and will be looking to maintain their 100% record in the competition tonight.
German side Leipzig are in Glasgow to take on Celtic, with the visitors still looking for their first point of the campaign, while the Scottish side’s spirits will be high after earning a point away at Atalanta a fortnight ago, taking their tally to four points from three games.
Elsewhere, the Champions League’s two most successful clubs of all time go head-to-head at the Santiago Bernabeu as 15-time winners and defending champions Real Madrid welcome seven-time victors AC Milan to the Spanish capital.
