Chelsea vs Copenhagen predictions
Chelsea has dominated the Europa Conference League this season. The Blues have won seven from seven, with an aggregate score of 28-6. They finished top of the group with the maximum 18 points, four points clear of second-place Guimaraes.
Goals from Reece James and Enzo Fernandez secured a 2-1 win for Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea over Copenhagen in the first leg in Denmark last Thursday.
A late goal from Gabriel Pereira has given Copenhagen some hope ahead of Thursday’s second leg. But Enzo Maresca will expect to see his team see off the Danes at Stamford Bridge and take their place in the last eight against either Molde or Legia Warsaw.
The bookmakers say the Blues will do it. Chelsea is 2/5 to win on the night and 1/25 to take their place in the quarter-final.
After a run of inconsistent form at the turn of the year, Chelsea now find themselves in calmer waters. The Blues are on a winning streak of three in all competitions, and they have won their last four in the league at Stamford Bridge.
Copenhagen sit second in the Danish Superliga. Jacob Neestrup’s team have 41 points from 25 matches, they are just one point behind leaders Midtjylland at the top of the table.
The Danes have only lost twice this season and are unbeaten in their last 13 matches in the league. Copenhagen’s last defeat was on Matchday 8, when they lost 2-1 away at Midtjylland. Their biggest problem is draws, with six of the 13 unbeaten matches ending in stalemates.
In Europe, Copenhagen finished 19th in the Conference League group with eight points from six matches. The Danes won two, drew two and lost two.
They took their place in the Round of 16 by defeating Heidenheim 4-3 on aggregate in the playoffs. Like against Chelsea, Neestrup’s team lost the first leg 2-1 at home.
Seemingly on their way out of the competition, the Danes went to Germany and defeated the Bundesliga strugglers 3-1 after extra-time to take their place against the Blues.
Will history repeat itself in London?

Chelsea vs Copenhagen betting tips
Copenhagen have impressed in Europe this season. A 3-0 defeat away at Rapid Vienna on Matchday 6 is the only time they have been well beaten. As impressive as that is, a trip to London to face Chelsea is likely to be where the journey ends for the Danes. Our match betting tips are below:
Chelsea (-1) to win on the European handicap
Chelsea warmed up for this match with a 1-0 win over Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Marc Cucurella scored the only goal of the game, in what should have been a more comfortable win for the Blues.

Chelsea had 20 shots at goal compared to Leicester’s three. The Londoners hit the target seven times. On another day, Chelsea would have won that match by three or four, and if Cole Palmer hadn’t missed a first half penalty, they probably would have put Leicester to the sword.
The Blues are head and shoulders above Copenhagen, and we expect Chelsea to be at least two goals better than their visitors.
Tip – Back Chelsea (-1) to win on the European handicap at even money with Sky Bet
Both teams to score
Copenhagen have scored in eight of their nine Conference League matches this season. They have also found the net in 19 of their 21 Superliga matches this term.
Those statistics were edging me towards a bet on both teams to score at 10/11.
Last week, Copenhagen had five shots against Chelsea, with two on target. They had the exact same numbers as the Blues.
But Chelsea had 63 percent of the possession, and with the Blues back in London for the second leg, I would expect those stats to favour Chelsea far more when the teams meet again on Thursday.
Over 2.5 goals is shorter odds at 4/7. But this bet covers results like 3-1 or 3-0 to Chelsea.
Over 3.5 goals is 6/4. And if Copenhagen were to score, I think this bet will have a great chance of winning.
If you’re feeling bullish, then over 3.5 goals may be the bet for you. We’re playing safe and going with over 2.5 goals.
Tip – Back over 2.5 goals at 4/7 with Tote
Shumaira Mheuka to score anytime
Chelsea’s recent injury crisis has forced head coach Enzo Maresca to give some of Chelsea’s exciting youngsters a go in the first team.
The latest player to benefit was Shumaira Mheuka, who at 17 years and 137 days became the youngest player to start for Chelsea in a major European competition when he played in Denmark last week.
This looks the ideal match for the exciting forward to get another run out leading the line. And if Chelsea are creating plenty of chances, don’t be surprised if Mheuka sets another record with a goal.
Tip – Back Shumaira Mheuka to score anytime at 2/1 with SBK
