Chris Eubank Jr isn’t particularly concerned about his £100,000 fine.

Conor Benn and Eubank Jr’s launch press conference descended into chaos last month when ‘Next Gen’ struck his bitter rival with an egg.

Conor’s father Nigel grabbed Eubank Jr by the throat while both boxers had to be held by a sea of security guards.

The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) immediately called a hearing to look into the events that transpired that night and has determined that a £100,000 fine is a suitable punishment for Eubank Jr’s actions.

“Following a hearing before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jr, was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025,” a statement from the BBBofC read.

“As such, the Stewards of the Board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000.”

Despite being forced to fork out a hefty sum for his actions, Eubank Jr took to social media to affirm that it was “worth every penny”.

Eubank Jr’s decision to strike Benn with an egg stems from the collapse of their originally scheduled fight date.

The bitter rivals were set to meet at the O2 Arena in London back in October 2022.

However, the event was cancelled after Benn tested positive for the banned substance clomifene in two pre-fight drug tests.

The WBC subsequently launched an independent investigation into how the female fertility drug got into Benn’s system.

They concluded that it could have been due to excessive egg consumption.

Benn was placed under a two-year provisional suspension by the BBBofC but fought twice in non-title bouts with Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson under a US license after the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) briefly lifted his suspension in July 2023.

The suspension was reinstated in May 2024 when the BBBofC won an appeal but the NADP cleared Benn again last November.

Benn is now expected have his license re-issued by the BBBofC ahead of his rescheduled bout with Eubank Jr on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The fight will take place at middleweight (160lbs) with a 10lbs rehydration clause inserted into the deal to level the playing field.

Eubank Jr is a natural middleweight and has competed as high as super middleweight (168lbs) while Benn has fought at welterweight for the majority of his career.

Benn weighed 150lbs for his last bout with Peter Dobson in February 2024 – 3lbs over the welterweight limit.
