The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) have called a hearing to look into the events that transpired at Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn’s launch press conference.
On Tuesday night, Eubank Jr struck Benn with an egg when they faced off in Manchester.

The BBBofC have the power to take away licenses for violent actions, although it seems more likely that they will issue a fine in this case.
“It was irresponsible,” General Secretary of the Board Robert Smith told BoxingScene.
“I’m not really bothered by the egg, it’s the fact that Eubank struck Benn.
“That an egg was in his hand at the time is irrelevant, it’s the striking that we have an issue with.”
Smith went on to confirm that Eubank Jr’s punishment will be decided at the hearing.
Benn and Eubank Jr are set to meet in London on Thursday for the second leg of their press tour.
The press conference will go ahead as usual, however, the face off has been cancelled due to ‘security concerns’.
Eubank Jr’s decision to smack Benn with an egg stems from the fallout of their doomed first fight.
The bout was called off after Benn tested positive for clomifene days before their October 2022 grudge match.
When looking into Benn’s case, the WBC concluded that the reason Benn had the banned substance in his system was due to excessive egg consumption.

Benn was placed under an on and off provisional suspension for two years by the BBBofC, which was briefly lifted in July 2023 by the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP).
This allowed Benn to compete in a pair of bouts under a US boxing license against Rodolfo Orozco and Peter Dobson before the BBBofC won an appeal to have the suspension reinstated.
The NADP then launched another investigation and cleared Benn for a second time.
As a result, Benn and Eubank Jr have now finally been booked to settle their score on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Benn will move up two weight classes from welterweight (147lbs) to middleweight (160lbs) to face Eubank Jr at his natural home.
However, a 170lbs rehydration clause has been inserted into their contracts to level the playing field.
