Midway through the card, the big screen in north London switched to Eubank Sr getting out of a black SUV as the crowd erupted.

However, his appearance had been kept under the wraps until this point, as fans were unsure if he would show following comments from the 58-year-old calling his son a disgrace.

Nonetheless, Eubank Sr claims he was always going to be there for his son, and has now revealed how he met him in disguise ahead of the all-British spectacle.

“Junior called, and he said, ‘I didn’t want to call dad because I can’t hear anything negative,” the boxing legend explained on his YouTube channel.

“I said to Junior, ‘Okay, all right, so where are you? So he explained…a Park Plaza.

“How am I going to get in? Now, in my mind, you have the world’s media there. Everyone’s hanging around.

“How am I going to get in? Okay, so I put on the disguise. The disguise, when [Eubank Jr] saw me, he said, ‘No one’s going to recognise you.’

“You couldn’t see me. I had an Issey Miyake coat on, which is down to literally your ankles. I had a hoodie, which is, if you will, the mod coat, the green mod coat.

“The coat they wore in the 1960s on their mopeds. Then I had a mask that went up and a cap.

“The shoes I wore were plimsolls. They were trainers. They’re black.

“Junior even said, ‘Wow, there’s no way anyone’s going to recognise you looking like that.’”

Eubank Sr was right, as nobody expected him to show up in the manner he did.

He also confirmed that he got in touch with his son at around 8.10pm on the night before the huge event to organise their eventual meeting.

Reacting live to the scenes on the night, Irish boxing legend Steve Collins, who defeated Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn during his career, told talkSPORT: “They’ve fooled the world.”

While talkSPORT pundit Adam Catterall compared the scenes to a WWE WrestleMania event.

Collins added: “Did they plan this? What a promotional masterstroke. What a stroke they pulled tonight.”

It was then ‘Simply the Best’ for both Eubanks after an epic main-event, as Junior claimed a unanimous decision win over Benn.

Speaking to talkSPORT’s Gareth A Davies, Eubank Sr said: “I was always going to be here for my son, irrespective of what you thought.”
