Few men know how to celebrate a Steel City derby victory like Chris Wilder.

The Sheffield United boss masterminded a 1-0 victory over fierce rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday afternoon, giving them bragging rights over the city.

Born just 10 miles away from Sheffield, Wilder knows exactly what the victory means and that’s why he was keen to celebrate in style.

Footage emerged on social media overnight of Wilder celebrating the victory in a pub with a number of Sheffield United fans.

Among those fans were former England Test captain, Joe Root, who is a huge fan of the Blades and will be delighted at the victory.

Wilder, clearly keen to celebrate, was filmed leading a number of Sheffield United chants, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.

He could then be heard singing a variation on a chant about his opposite number, Danny Rohl.

The German boss is regularly serenaded with the chant ‘Danny, Danny Rohl’ by the Sheffield Wednesday fans, however Wilder led the Blades’ fans in singing ‘Sausage, sausage roll’.

Responding to the chants, a number of Sheffield United fans were loving what they saw.

One fan wrote: “He just gets it doesn’t he.”

Another said: “Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder singing in a pub after winning the Steel City Derby earlier today is absolutely brilliant.”

Meanwhile a third wrote: “I’m so happy that he’s proving the doubters (including me) wrong. There’s Sheffield United + there’s Sheffield United with Chris Wilder in charge. The same way there’s Chris Wilder + there’s Chris Wilder when he’s in charge of Sheffield Utd. It’s special.”

However not all football fans were impressed.

One said: “I’m all for banter. Utd can take the bragging rights but this is embarrassing from Chris Wilder. If Rohl did anything like that I’d say exactly the same.”

A second fan said: “It’s so embarrassing lol,” while a third wrote: “How did this bloke go from finishing 6th in Premier league 5 years ago to this.”

Victory means that Sheffield United go into the international break in second place in the Championship, while Wednesday sit in 15th spot.

The Blades are hoping for an immediate return to the top flight after finishing rock bottom last season, amassing just 16 points and letting in 105 goals.

“We can’t achieve anything when we’re not connected. It’s a word I use a lot,” Wilder said on Sunday.

“We’ll have bumps in the road but what you’ll have is what you see in those last five or 10 minutes when the boys put everything on the line.

“We were miles off it last year. The club wasn’t prepared to go into the Premier League. I don’t want to get too caught up in it but it was a difficult time.

“The players were undercooked and the Premier League is a ruthless division.”
