Cognizant Classic 2025 golf betting preview

Good news for UK golf fans – the PGA Tour is heading to Florida.

The time differences in Hawaii, California and Arizona meant golf fans woke up with bleary eyes after watching Sunday’s conclusions to the early-season West Coast events.

But the Florida tournaments are played at far more sociable hours and it should be a fun month in the Sunshine State as this event is followed by the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the prestigious Players Championship.

The Cognizant Classic is better known as the Honda Classic and has been staged at PGA National since 2007.

A flat, exposed track where it can get windy, it’s no surprise that those with good records in the Open Championship have fared well here.

For evidence, two-time Open champion Padraig Harrington is also a double winner at PGA National.

Shane Lowry, the 2019 Open winner, has also been a regular contender here, finishing fourth, fifth and second in the last three editions.

Find my predictions and best tips for the Cognizant Classic 2025 below.

Daniel Berger the best each-way bet

Harrington’s first win at PGA National was a dagger to the heart for Daniel Berger.

The local Floridian looked set to cause a huge shock on his tournament debut in 2015 but Harrington holed a 15-foot putt to force a playoff and then won at the second extra hole.

Berger was a rookie then but he’s now a four-time PGA Tour champion and has played on a US Ryder Cup team.

A back injury derailed him for the whole of the 2023 season but he’s fit again and playing some excellent golf as highlighted by second place in Phoenix and 12th at The Genesis Invitational in his last two starts.

Since his playoff loss at PGA National 10 years ago, Berger has twice finished fourth here.

In 2022 he was actually five shots clear entering the final round but stalled and was caught.

That will surely fire him up to get it done this time and he has the form to do so.

🏌️‍♂️ Back Berger each-way at 22/1 with bet365 ⛳

Billy Horschel to beat Patrick Rodgers

Billy Horschel is a Florida resident and will relish the PGA Tour returning to his neck of the woods where he’s been playing the TGL indoor league.

Horschel has three top 10s and two other top 20s in his last eight starts at PGA National while he’s also had a couple of runners-up finishes in other Florida events in his last dozen appearances in the Sunshine State.

Bet365 have paired Horschel with Patrick Rodgers in a 72-hole match and Billy-Ho at 5/6 is the bet.

Rodgers is a West Coast guy and played well there in the first two months of 2025.

But he’s not the same force in Florida.

Rodgers has never had a top 20 in eight starts in this event while he’s missed seven of his last 11 cuts in Florida.

🏌️‍♂️ Back Billy Horschel at 5/6 with bet365 ⛳

Keith Mitchell for Top 10

Keith Mitchell had a solid West Coast Swing with four finishes between 21st and 33rd.

But now he’s back in Florida, expect the American to really kick on.

Mitchell won this event in 2019 and has finished ninth in his last two visits.

🏌️‍♂️ Back him at 5/1 with Unibet to finish in the top 10 with bet365 ⛳
