Cowboys’ $2.1 billion stadium and ‘the sun’ are blamed in blowout loss, but irate Jerry Jones knows who’s really at fault in Dallas

It has gone from bad to worse for the failing Dallas Cowboys.

Now, the sun and the moon are involved, and head coach Mike McCarthy could soon be out of a job.

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the Cowboys 34-6 on Sunday on Dallas’ home field.

It got so bad at home — again — for the Cowboys that star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb begged for curtains to be installed inside AT&T Stadium to block out the sun, while the return of Micah Parsons was followed with the star defender also appearing to take a shot at McCarthy.

First, there was Lamb missing a direct throw from backup quarterback Cooper Rush that should have resulted in an easy touchdown.

Lamb appeared to loose the ball in the glare from the sun, then made it clear that he wanted action taken after the inexplicable miss.

“I couldn’t see the ball,” Lamb said. “Couldn’t see the ball at all. The sun.”

Lamb, who received a $136 million contract extension before the season, then requested that curtains be installed inside AT&T Stadium to improve the on-field view for players.

The stadium, which has a capacity of 105,000 and is also known as Jerry World, has had a big sun problem since it opened in 2009.

The field faces east and west, instead of north and south.

Once the time changes, the glare from the sun inside the stadium can be overwhelming on the field.

AT&T Stadium — which will host the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight on November 15 — is one of the most famous sports venues in the world and means a lot to Jones.

It was constructed at a cost of $1.3 billion, features a huge Jumbotron and state-of-the art amenities, and would cost $2.1 billion to build today.

But with Lamb blaming “the sun” during another home blowout loss, Jones appeared to be at his wits’ end.

“We know where the sun is going to be when we flip the coin, so we do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium,” Jones said.

“Let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one. Are you kidding me?”

An owner with an estimated net worth of $15.7 billion — who has spent all season publicly backing the struggling McCarthy — wasn’t done taking up for his sun-filled stadium.

He also appeared to take a swipe at McCarthy, who fell to 3-6 on Sunday and is in the final year of his contract.

“Every team that comes in here has the same issues,” Jones said.

“They know where the sun is going to be. Every team has the same thing.

“I’m not saying (it is on McCarthy). I’m saying the world knows where the sun is. We get to know that almost a year in advance.

“Someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon?

“We’re fine. But everybody plays in the sun out here.”

The shots weren’t done.

After the Cowboys fell even further out of the NFC playoff picture, Parsons — who is hoping for a new contract in Dallas — also appeared to take a dig at his head coach.

“Guys I kind of feel bad for (are) guys like Zack Martin and guys who might be on their last year or on their way out,” Parsons said.

“Because that’s who I wanted to hold the trophy for. You want to win games and do great things with those type of legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did.

Those are the kind of guys that I have so much sympathy and hurt for.”

Mike Vrabel and Bill Belichick are early candidates to coach the Cowboys next season if Dallas finally moves on from McCarthy.

Jones paying to install curtains inside Jerry World is an even more pressing question for a failing America’s Team.
