Crystal Palace v Liverpool preview

Liverpool make the trip to the capital on Saturday lunchtime having won each of their last five matches in all competitions, taking Arne Slot’s record as manager to eight wins in nine matches since taking on the daunting task of replacing Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout.

The Reds’ 2-1 win at Wolves last weekend saw them capitalise on both Manchester City and Aston Villa dropping points, leaving the club heading into the new weekend at the top of the Premier League table.

The Merseyside club secured a 2-0 win over Bologna in the Champions League on Wednesday night to take them to two wins from two in the competition, leaving them full of confidence ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Liverpool will be looking to maintain their 100% record on the road so far this season, winning all four of their away games, which includes tricky trips to Manchester United and AC Milan, tests they passed with flying colours.

Hopes were high for Crystal Palace heading into the new season having picked up 19 points from their last seven matches to end the last campaign, securing them a top half finish on the last day of the season with a thumping 5-0 win over fourth placed Aston Villa.

The start to the new season hasn’t been so profitable for Oliver Glasner’s side though, not helped by the departures of Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen in the summer, with the club yet to earn their first win of the campaign.

The Eagles have won just three points from their opening six games of the league season, though did boast a five match unbeaten run through the league and Carabao Cup, which came to an end last weekend with a 2-1 defeat at Everton – the Toffees’ first win of the campaign.

The south London club are unbeaten in their last three matches at Selhurst Park but will face an uphill task on Saturday lunchtime as they bid to earn their first victory of the season against the league leaders.

Palace have won just one of their last 15 matches against Liverpool, a run which includes 12 defeats, but that solitary win did come in their most recent meeting in April last season, when a shock 1-0 win at Anfield completely derailed any chances of Liverpool’s title ambitions.
