Crystal Palace v Tottenham predictions
Tottenham made it seven wins in their last eight matches on Thursday night as they got the better of Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, making them one of only two teams with a 100% record in the competition after three games.
Ange Postecoglou’s side’s 1-0 win in Europe made it back-to-back victories following their surprise defeat at Brighton three weeks ago, a match in which they were 2-0 up at half time, but got back to winning ways in the league in emphatic fashion last week with a 4-1 win over West Ham.
The north London side head into this weekend seventh in the Premier League table after a slow start to the campaign with just one win from their opening four matches, but their recent run of wins has seen them shoot up the table, and are now just four points off the Champions League places and top three.
Sunday’s match will be their first away from home since their defeat to Brighton on the south coast, and Spurs will be desperate to signal their intent to climb up the table and bounce back with victory in a London derby.
Crystal Palace head into the weekend still seeking their first win of the Premier League season; a hugely disappointing start to the campaign having finished last season with seven wins from their last eight matches,
Eight games without a win to start the current campaign though unsurprisingly leaves them in bottom three with just three points to their name, and head into Sunday’s derby on the back of three defeats in a row, with just one goal scored in their last four.
Oliver Glasner’s side are only one point away from safety though and know that if they can better Ipswich’s result this weekend, who go away to Brentford, the Eagles will see themselves climb out of the relegation zone ahead of a massive match next weekend against a Wolves side currently rock bottom of the table.
Tottenham have won all of their last five matches against Crystal Palace and will be expecting to make it six from six on Sunday afternoon against a side bereft of any sort of confidence, while Spurs’ morale will be sky high after their recent winning run – I predict a 2-0 away win.
Crystal Palace v Tottenham betting tips
Brennan Johnson tops Tottenham’s goal scoring charts this so far this season with six goals to his name in all competitions, all of which have come in his last eight outings, with the Welsh winger, who also scored during the international break, enjoying a fantastic run of form.
Crystal Palace are the Premier League’s lowest goal scorers this season, with just five all season and just two in four games at Selhurst Park, which doesn’t bode well for them coming up against the second highest scorers in the division, only one goal behind Manchester City.
