UFC legend Chael Sonnen has revealed Dana White was left furious after one of Ronda Rousey’s fights.

In July 2014, ‘Rowdy’ defended her bantamweight title and improved to 10-0 as a professional MMA fighter by knocking out Alexis Davis in 16 seconds at UFC 175.

During her post-fight interview, Joe Rogan was prompted by someone backstage to ask Rousey if she’d be up for a short notice fight at UFC 177, which was set to take place five weeks later.

White shot his long-time interviewer a death stare in the Octagon and Sonnen insists the UFC boss was quick to express his anger at the incident when they got backstage.

However, he says Rogan was not on the receiving end of White’s fury.

“Somebody overstepped and told Joe Rogan in his ear to, ‘Ask Ronda right now in front of the world if she’ll come in on short notice.’ And Joe did ask,” Sonnen revealed on his YouTube channel.

“Ronda was like, ‘Yeah, sure. I guess.’ She was kind of caught off guard, but it was cool, everybody did what they were supposed to do.

“Dana White was pissed. Behind the scenes, if you were there and you saw who he went over to and engaged with… Afterwards, he was more confine, but he let you know that’s not how we do business.

“He made it clear that not only would Ronda not be doing that fight, but he also he would not even offer that fight because she should never have been put in that position.”

White addressed the incident during his UFC 175 post-fight press conference.

“I wasn’t upset with Joe Rogan,” he said.

“I was upset with the truck telling him to tell Ronda that she’s going to fight again. That wasn’t true, that was some s*** that somebody made up back there.

White and Rogan have been great friends for years

But Sonnen claims White wasn’t happy with a question Rogan asked RouseyGETTY

“It was the biggest idiotic move in the history of our production team.”

White won’t be happy with Sonnen leaking backstage gossip a decade later.

However, it’s all water under the bridge as everyone has moved on.

White continues to take the UFC to new heights, and he calls upon Rogan to help him on commentary duty whenever he can, but he’s not always available after becoming the world’s biggest podcaster.

Rousey retired in 2016 after suffering back-to-back knockout losses.

It was hoped she would return to MMA one day, but she recently shut down talk about her fighting by revealing her decision to walk away from the sport was triggered by a serious health issue.

Rousey had suffered with concussion issues for years and is no longer fit to fight.

“The rumours about my return keep popping up from time to time, and I guess it’s flattering to be missed,” she told the Insight podcast. “

But honestly, it’s not going to happen. I am not neurologically capable of competing at the highest level. I simply can’t.”
