Two-time world champion Peter Wright knows how to make an entrance.
But in July 2015, the enigmatic Scot more than met his match before a dart was even thrown.

No. 3 seed Wright took on South Africa’s Devon Petersen in the second round of the 2015 European Darts Open in Dusseldorf.
Petersen booked a clash with defending European Darts Open champ Wright thanks to his 6-5 victory over a 22-year-old Nathan Aspinall in the opening round.
The South African made the walk to the oche first, but his entrance paled into comparison to what Wright was about to produce.
Decked out in a salmon pink polo, green pants and an orange mohawk, Wright strutted out to his usual walk-on song of Pitbull’s ‘Don’t Stop the Party’.
Wright dished out plenty of hi-fives to fans on the upper tier inside the Maritim Hotel before he made his way downstairs.
As is his tradition, Wright stretched his arms out and side-stepped along the stage as he whipped the fans up into a frenzy.
Wright also made sure he stopped in front of Petersen and shook his backside before he continued his walk-on.
Petersen responded by mimicking Wright’s dance as he too extended his arms and side-stepped.
The South African then went for a sip of water before it was his turn to show off his moves as he shimmied his rear end towards Wright.
Wright extended his hand as if to signal the dance battle was over, but Petersen had other ideas.

Petersen brushed the invisible dust off his shoulders before serving some pelvic thrusts in Wright’s direction.
Wright returned serve by pumping his fists and, in keeping with the dance-off’s theme, shook his butt some more.
Petersen cheekily pretended to smack Wright’s rear-end before the two embraced and raised each other’s hand into the air.
Once the contest got underway, it looked as if Wright expended all his energy during the walk-on as Petersen raced out to a surprise 5-1 lead in the first-to-six-leg match.
However, Wright roared back and rattled off four-straight legs to level the contest at 5-5.
Unfortunately for the Scot, his comeback bid fell agonisingly short courtesy of some brilliant darts from Petersen.

The Cape Town native reeled off a 12-dart leg and sealed the 6-5 result with a 121-checkout.
Petersen’s time in Dusseldorf didn’t last much longer though after he was whitewashed 6-0 by Jelle Klaasen in the third round.
