The darts World Grand Prix takes place this week in Leicester, with the action continuing tonight at the Mattioli Arena.

The World Grand Prix is a key fixture in the darting calendar, notable for being the only PDC tournament with a “Double In, Double Out” format, in which players must start AND end their leg by scoring a double or a bullseye.

Luke Humphries heads into this week’s tournament as the defending champion following his victory in last year’s final over Gerwyn Price, his first of five PDC major titles in the last 12 months, a run which has seen him crowned world champion and reach world number one.

Humphries’ tournament will got underway last night with a thrilling come-from-behind win against the reigning Masters champions Stephen Bunting, who had a match dart to win the tie at two legs up in the second set.

Pre-tournament favourite Luke Littler fell to a surprise defeat on his Grand Prix debut against world number five Rob Cross, which leaves six-time winner Michael van Gerwen among the top two favourites, and he gets his tournament underway tonight.

The Dutchman takes on Daryl Gurney in the penultimate match of the night, with the winner of the tie taking on either Chris Dobey or Joe Cullen in the second round on Thursday night.

Games will played in sets, won by winning a best of five legs. The first round is a best of three sets, second and third rounds are best of five, semi finals are best of nine and the final will be a best of 11 sets match.
