Decision on Tyreek Hill’s Olympic dream that could force Noah Lyles to eat his words will be made in days

Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill and the Olympics are both coincidentally back in the news.

They are, however, unrelated to one another…for now.

Hill’s playful rivalry with Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles has been brewing for over a year, with both athletes trolling one another at various times.

Lyles won 100-meter gold at the Paris Olympics, taking the title of fastest man in the world.

And after dominating the 60-meter final at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix back in February, Lyles again trolled Hill by pulling out a sign post-race that read, ‘Tyreek could never.’

Hill responded on X with a few laughing emojis and posting, “Get a load of this guy.”

Whether the two finally face one another on the track remains to be seen, but a surprise decision for Hill and his participation in the upcoming Summer Olympics may just come sooner than expected.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on Thursday that the NFL owners will meet to discuss the participation of their players in the Olympics where flag football will be played for the first time.

“Big news: NFL owners will discuss a resolution at next week’s league meeting that would allow NFL players to participate in the Olympics, which will include flag football for the first time in 2028,” Pelissero wrote on X.

The summer Olympics will be held in Los Angeles in 2028, with flag football taking place from July 14-30.

The gold medal game would take place the same week that teams report to training camp.

The resolution sent to the owners was specifically about participation in flag football — it didn’t mention track and field.

For Hill, why not both?

While many have already predicted that Hill will be one of the starting wide receivers for Team USA, that isn’t why he is in the news currently.

The Indianapolis Colts released their schedule video that included a depiction of Hill (as a dolphin) getting arrested by the Coast Guard.

The Colts took down the video and have since publicly apologized.

“We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek,” the team said in a statement to ESPN on Thursday.

However, Hill himself thought the video was funny and didn’t mind it.

“Should’ve left it up @Colts, this was funny,” Hill posted on X, with a shrugging emoji.

Ultimately it was no harm, no foul.

And while all eyes will be on the upcoming decision of whether or not NFL players will be able to participate in the Olympics for flag football, a few will be looking to see if Hill takes it a step further and hops on the track.

Lyles included.
