Deontay Wilder produced one of his most deadly displays with a frightening first round KO of a familiar face.
The ‘Bronze Bomber’ is considered one of the hardest punching heavyweights in the modern era, with a whole host of contenders left begging for mercy at the hands of the devastating knockout artist.

His fearsome reputation grew with every punch he threw during his rise to becoming a world champion.
As he began to reach the cusp of world level, Wilder came up against renowned current boxing trainer Malik Scott.
At the time, Scott had 36 wins and just one defeat, which came against Derek Chisora, on his professional record.
He was coming up against the formidable Wilder, who had a perfect 100 per cent KO ratio from his first 30 professional fights.
But it ended up being a total mismatch as the pair traded blows in a quick finishing affair.
Wilder immediately came out the traps with his famous killer instinct, and Scott looked a class below as he began to taste the power of the future world champion.
Within seconds, the ferocious puncher had the upper hand and he unleashed a rangy one-two combination through his rival’s guard.
He detonated the shots which crashed into the head of his opponent, and it sent Scott crashing into the ropes as his legs immediately turned to jelly.
The fight was quickly halted and it went down as yet another statement on his route to a shot at world glory.
It was clear the fighters had huge respect for each other, but they wouldn’t have guessed it could form a fruitful working relationship in the sport.

Wilder went on to pick up his first world title, claiming the famous WBC green belt the following year with a win over Bermane Stiverne.
He went on to make seven defences of his crown including against Luis Ortiz before meeting iconic rival Tyson Fury in 2018.
Wilder controversially drew with Fury before being brutally beaten by the Briton in their 2020 rematch.
At this point, the American decided to enlist Scott’s help, appointing him as his main trainer in 2021.
Scott’s first task came in a trilogy fight with Fury, in which he gave a good account of himself but was stopped in the penultimate round.
Unfortunately for Wilder, he has just one victory under Scott’s stewardship, beating Robert Helenius, before back-to-back defeats against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.

The pair are still working together and Wilder has refused to retire, and is considering a comeback in 2025.
Scott himself went on to continue fighting until 2016 when he was outpointed in his final fight with Ortiz bringing down a curtain on his career.
He remains in the sport to this day and is even training wife Kate Abdo for her boxing debut.
The 44-year-old will likely corner Wilder if he is to return again, with links heavy to a power-punching collision with Francis Ngannou.
