There was a remarkable 154lbs difference in weight between the pair as they stepped into the ring, with Carty at 255lb while Calloway clocked in at a mammoth 409lbs.

Irish star Carty was a huge favourite to win and was set to be backed by a large Irish contingent in the crowd.

He had already put together a streak of ten consecutive wins since turning professional under the stewardship of Dillian Whyte.

But despite going through the motions slowly, things ended in disaster for the expected winner.

In the second round of their clash, Carty leant in to clinch with the far heavier Calloway.

And as he put his weight on his front leg, his knee appeared to buckle and he staggered forwards.

He was left on all fours on the canvas and dragged himself to the ropes, desperate to try and rise to his feet.

Luckily for Carty he managed to clamber to his feet after using the ropes to pull himself to his feet.

But despite receiving brief time out and making the end of the round, he was left in a bad way.

Calloway marched towards him with 20 seconds left and Carty buckled and dropped without a punch being thrown.

It was clearly completely hampering his movement and as he tried to escape, Calloway threw wild punches and he dropped to the canvas once again.

The round ended and Carty returned to his corner, and was visibly in agony.

With doctors present and a team assessing his injury, it was decided that the fight would be called off.

Calloway earned an unlikely win but not in the best of circumstances, but it was a monumental upset nonetheless.

It was a stacked card of action led by UFC kingpin White, who is increasing his ventures into boxing.

Callum Walsh scored victory in the main event, flattening Dean Sutherland with a stunning KO.

It shows positive signs for White, who has announced he will venture into the world of full-time boxing promotion.

He will launch the new TKO boxing league with Saudi chief Turki Alalshikh.

It is expected their first event will see Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez square off in a huge undisputed clash in September.
