Former Tottenham and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp is nervously waiting to see if he has a runner in the Grand National.

Redknapp is a regular at the races and was at the Cheltenham Festival in March to support one of his horses, Shakem Up’Arry.

The 11-year-old is owned by the legendary football boss and picked up his first-ever win at Cheltenham in 2024’s TrustATrader Plate.

Unfortunately, the horse didn’t have the same success this year as Redknapp watched on, finishing 14th when defending the crown.

However, Shakem Up’Arry has now been entered on an even bigger stage and could be set to run in the 2025 Grand National

Does Harry Redknapp have horses in the Grand National?

Redknapp currently does not have a horse in the iconic race.

But Shakem Up’Arry could become his one runner and his first entry since 2023.

As mentioned, Shakem Up’Arry has been entered into the Grand National by trainer Ben Pauling.

This has not guaranteed the horse a spot though, as it is still waiting to be confirmed in the 34th and final spot in the race.

Redknapp’s horse is set to weigh the same as fellow entries Duffle Coat and Roi Mage.

10st 4lb is the lowest weight set to be featured in the race, with reigning champion I Am Maximus carrying top weight 11st 12lb.

The three horses tied at the same weight can only take one spot, and that horse will be decided by their handicap mark.

As things stand, that would mean Shakem Up’Arry misses out as Duffle Coat has the highest rating of the three ahead of the final declaration on Thursday, April 3.

The full 34-horse line-up will be officially confirmed when the declarations are made, so Redknapp and Pauling won’t know for certain they’ve missed out until then.

If Shakem Up’Arry doesn’t make it, then the horse will remain as a reserve and could step in to replace any late withdrawals for the race.

Redknapp is waiting for his second entry into the Grand National after his first, Back On The Lash, was pulled up in 2023’s edition.

Shakem Up’Arry was also meant to run in that race, but it missed out and ran in the Topham Chase instead, finishing 17th.

Now, it seems that the 11-year-old could be set to just miss out once again.
