R-Truth made a shock return at Money in the Bank just six days after after announcing his departure.

The WWE legend, who headlined a live show with John Cena last month, left fans and fellow stars furious when he shared news of his release last week.

“I’m sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE,” he posted on X.

“I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride.

“Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you.”

Reports that followed clarified R-Truth’s contract was not being renewed by WWE, and drew major backlash from fans on social media, with CM Punk even addressing some controversial crowd chants on Raw.

But in the closing moments of Saturday’s Money in the Bank show, the popular star returned to help Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso in their main event match against Cena and Logan Paul.

After the Undisputed WWE Champion nailed Rhodes with his title belt, a masked figure darted into the ring, tackled Cena and began pounding him.

The hooded man then picked up the belt and revealed himself to be Truth, sending fans inside the Intuit Dome wild.

“Truth is back, Truth is back… We thought he had left the company,” Michael Cole yelled on commentary as the moment unfolded.

Off the interference, Rhodes executed a match-ending Cross Rhodes on Cena to pick up the win.

While Truth’s return was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening for many fans, the situation was played down by Paul ‘Triple H‘ Levesque during his post-show press conference.

In the hours since, WWE have also advertised merchandise for Ron Killings on their shop, suggesting the star will be using his real name moving forward.

Asked by one reporter about ‘a crazy week’ of fan reaction to Truth’s release, the head of creative suggested that it was all just a work.

“I love the question, enjoying the show?” Triple H fired back.

“All part of the show, man.”

However, that suggestion didn’t fly with fans, who have accused WWE of backtracking on a decision to not renew Truth’s contract.

“Don’t believe it… the fans did this,” one person said.

“It wasn’t a work. The backlash is what brought back R- Truth. They’ll never admit it, but that’s what happened,” another claimed.

“That’s bull****. If they released him and brought him back, then why have him come back as Ron Killings? Merch should have been out there as R-Truth not as his real name. When is WWE and TKO gonna admit they f***ed up?” a third asked.

“Lies. They didn’t expect for us to love R-Truth as much as we did,” a fourth said.

The star himself even appeared to confirm his return was not initially part of a storyline, responding on X to footage of him interfering in the MITB main event with the words: ‘No work.’

In a now deleted Instagram post, R-Truth’s son, Christopher Killings, further backed that up.

He told Triple H to ‘stop the cap’ and added: “Congrats on the new deal dad! Last run.”

With Truth back in WWE after a short, six-day hiatus, it will be interesting to see how he is used moving forward, given he clearly has huge backing from the fans.
