David Beckham may have paved the way for footballers in fashion, but he’s put restrictions on his Inter Miami stars posting their fits.

The former Manchester United star owns the Major League Soccer outfit, who currently boast superstars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Beckham recently appeared on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, and the former Manchester United and England teammates got onto the topic of Barcelona telling players not to post their outfits on social media before a game.

And Ferdinand was left stunned when Beckham admitted he’d done the same thing at Inter Miami.

“Yeah, funnily enough, our team started doing it a couple of times and I stopped that,” he said.

Beckham made headlines countless times when at Old Trafford and beyond with his out there outfits, along with his wife and former Spice Girl band member, Victoria.

And Ferdinand hasn’t forgotten about Beckham being the original football fashion icon, having possessed lucrative deals with adidas and Emporio Armani.

“The man about fashion,” he smiled. “The man who broke down all the barriers.”

Beckham responded: “Yeah, but we weren’t winning games at that point.”

“That’s the key, see, that’s what I’m like,” Ferdinand agreed. “That’s like, if I’m my owner, I don’t wanna see you on social media if we’re seventh or eighth.

“I can’t believe that Mr. Fashion said there’s no fashion going on at my football club.”

Of course, Beckham and Ferdinand were playing at Old Trafford when social media either didn’t exist or was in its infancy stage.

But Beckham isn’t stuck in the past, and went on to insist he’s all for his players dressing well.

However he did double down on them needing to read the room with the timing of their posts.

“Well, they can still do it,” he said.

“I just don’t wanna see it on social media if we’re actually losing games.”

Beckham took over as co-owner of MLS outfit Inter Miami in 2021.

As well as his Instagram posting rules, the ex-England captain also revealed the key advice Sir Alex Ferguson gave him when he started running the club.
