There’s very few who can lay claim to being one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and a Hollywood megastar.

But then again, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is not like most.

Johnson is one of the world’s most recognisable names and facesGetty

He played college football for the University of Miami as a defensive tackle but never made it to the NFL and opted to become a professional wrestler.

Johnson made his WWF debut in 1996 and quickly established himself as one of the biggest names in the business, with an iconic rivalry against ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin propelling him to superstardom.

Such is Johnson’s high regard in the sport, legends like John Cena, Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan have all named the future Hall of Famer on their wrestling Mount Rushmore.

Although Johnson has appeared in the ring sporadically since 2004, he has become even more mainstream with his acting career.

He has featured in six films from the Fast and Furious franchise as well as main roles in Moana, Baywatch and two Jumanji movies.

Such is Johnson’s star power in the film industry, his movies have grossed over £9.4billion, making him one of the highest-grossing actors ever.

Despite being adored by millions of wrestling fans who chant his name, it is not Johnson’s favourite part about being famous.

Nor is it any of the glitzy Hollywood parties or rubbing shoulders with some of the most famous people in the world.

Instead, Johnson took to Instagram to share what he loves most about his fame.

“I know, I know this may sound corny… but you guys hear me say this all the time when it comes to things like this,” Johnson said.

“Meeting people and hearing about their journeys of weight loss, mental health struggles, fitness, dealing with loss, anxiety, depression, hard times. Moments like this become my profound reminder that this is the best part of fame.”

The caption accompanies a video of a fan, Jonny Cleasby, detailing how Johnson inspired his weight loss journey.

Cleasby told Johnson he’d lost 60 pounds by running every day and lifting weights.

Although Cleasby said he’d been inspired by several others, Johnson was ‘the most inspiring to me’.

Johnson replied: “Well, thank you for sharing that with me, it means a lot.”

The 52-year-old then brought Cleasby in for a hug.

Johnson is set for a big second half of 2024 with the release of two films.

He stars in Red One, an action-comedy where he plays a character who is the head of security for the North Pole and has to try and rescue Santa after he gets kidnapped.

Johnson also stars in Moana 2, set for a late November release, where he will reprise his role of Maui.
