Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks preview
The speedy return from Connor McDavid was still not enough for Kris Knoblauch’s squad to secure two points Wednesday night. The Oilers suffered their second straight setback, this time losing at home against their Pacific Division adversaries, the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Canucks wrapped up their three-game California road trip in style as Rick Tocchet’s troops were victorious, sweeping the west coast trip. Vancouver held their own and obtained a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks predictions
After going goalless in his opening 10 games, Zach Hyman is starting to pick up the slack, registering three goals in the last four outings. The 32-year-old will look to keep his groove going and try to duplicate last year’s production where he bagged 54 goals.
Returning from injury, Connor McDavid was held off the stat sheet against the Golden Knights, logging just over 21 minutes of ice time. For his standards, it’s a quiet start for the superstar only obtaining 10 points through 11 contests.
Leon Draisaitl has yet to get on the scoreboard after putting up back-to-back three-point performances. The 29-year-old has failed to catalog a goal or an assist in his last two appearances, his longest drought in this young season.
Brock Boeser left Thursday’s game after receiving a check to the head in the first period. The Canucks could be without the services of their leading scorer who has six this year. In 490 career games under his belt, Boeser has piled up 395 points.
Carrying his side on his back once again, Quinn Hughes had another dominant display on the ice. Last year’s Norris trophy winner, picked up a goal and an assist. The 25-year-old defenseman has picked up eight points in his previous five games.
Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks betting tips
All signs are looking like pointing toward backing the home team on Saturday after their successful California sweep. That said the Oilers are a desperate side for the moment and kick-starting a streak against a division foe is what they just might need.
There is a lot of hatred between the two sides going back to last year’s playoff clash in the second round. After his brief time away from the action, look for Connor McDavid to take it to another gear after getting up to game speed Wednesday evening.
The Canucks have won five of the last six regular-season games against the Oilers, but Edmonton will be still fuming after blowing a 2-1 lead to Vegas, which could spell bad news for the Canucks.
