Late in the third period, Zach Hyman came up with a pivotal moment, as he scored the winning goal in game 1. Through seven playoff outings this year, the 32-year-old has three goals and three assists. 

Assisting on Edmonton’s opening two tallies, team captain Connor McDavid soared to the occasion with a statement display.

With multi-point night, McDavid is the NHL’s top point getter in the playoffs with 13 after Tuesday’s clash.

Between the pipes, it was an evening to forget for Adin Hill in game 1. The netminder stopped 24 of 28 shots he faced against the Oilers on Tuesday.

Getting the starting nod in all seven of Vegas’ playoff tilts so far, the Calgary, Alberta native possesses a 3.01 GAA and a .876 save percentage. 

Mark Stone opened the series, lighting the lamp on two occasions to kick off game 1, but the Oilers eventually rallied back. During the regular season, Stone obtained 67 points in 66 appearances.

For Vegas to have success in this series, they will need production from him to get past this talented Oilers side.

We feel in Thursday’s contest the Golden Knights can find a way to recover from Tuesday’s setback and even this series up. During the regular season, Hill had a solid .906 save percentage, and in four playoff wins, he’s been over the .900 mark. If Hill can perform to his usual standards, Vegas will be set up in a great position to collect a victory. 

Alex Pietrangelo should be back in the lineup after missing game 1, as Vegas had a big void on the blue line. His presence can absolutely flip the script in a series with his puck-moving ability and defensive effectiveness. 

The Oilers chipped away in game 1, but it’s hard to see this side sweep both road games in this matchup. Though Pickard has won the starting job in the crease for Edmonton, the goaltending advantage still points towards Vegas’ way.
