Uganda’s fast rising referee Elly Jabeth Ojilong, 19, is among the 21 referees selected for the young referees’ course in Cairo, Egypt later this month (October 2024).
Ojilong is a product of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) capacity building programe for young referees.
He has already been exposed on the national, regional and international football tournaments having handled matches in the, USSSA FEASSA and ISF championships this year.

Zambian Janny Sikazwe is among the technical and physical officials who will conduct this course.
The other two officials include Senegal’s Fadouma Dia and Sayed Mohamed Ismail Emam from Egypt.
Other young referees:
Besides Ojilong, the other young referees from the CECAFA region are Rwanda’s Kevine Tuyihimbaze, Habibu Habibu Hamad (Tanzania), Omar Hassan Ibrahim (Djibouti) and Burundian, Cressy Ishimwe Rolande.
The rest of the referees are from Algeria (Mohamed Amine and Istabrak Khalfoun), Malawi (Usi Musitafa Wyson and Faith Gondwe), Delcia Defatima Katchingavisa (Angola), Salissou Mohamed Awali (Benin), Pelori Ignesse (Chad), Assimati Moussa (Comoros), Traore Korotoum (Cote D’Ivoire), Muhamad Sanneh (The Gambia), Zakaria Elghaithy (Libya), Tsiaro Randriambololomanana (Madagascar), Yusuf Gbemisola (Nigeria, Jacinta Makasa (Zambia) and Rio Chris Dubignon from Seychelles.
CAF Staff:
Three CAF staff will also grace this training; Mamadou Haidara, Jean Claude Birumushahu and Doue Noumandiez.
The CAF referee committee will also be represented by Adjovi Alain Hugues.
Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) will confirm the dates for this programe in the due course.
