Super Bowl LIX is set.
The reigning, back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on February 9.
The game is a rematch of Super Bowl LVII following the 2022 NFL season.
Super Bowl 57 was a familial affair dominated by two All-Pro brothers and their mother.
Jason Kelce, formerly of the Eagles, squared off against Kansas City star and younger brother Travis Kelce at State Farm Stadium.
The ‘Big Game’ – dubbed the ‘Kelce Bowl’ – ended with Travis and the Chiefs lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy after defeating the Eagles, 38-35.
The brothers’ parents received a ton of media coverage leading up to the game, especially mum Donna who was in attendance and had the unenviable job of watching her two boys go head-to-head.
After the final whistle, mama Kelce took to the field to celebrate with Travis and console Jason.
“I’m so happy for you!” she told a jubilant Travis.
Later, when Donna found Jason, he told her ‘it was so fun watching you all week.’
“Go celebrate with Trav”, he added.
Emotions were understandably running high for the Kelce clan, which continued in the days after the Super Bowl on Jason and Travis’ New Heights podcast.
Jason spoke about his mother’s presence at the game and held back tears over how powerful the experience was.
“Well for some reason when I saw you I wasn’t that emotional,” Jason said on the podcast.
“I was really, really happy for you,” he told Travis.
“I think I was still caught up in the game though and I just wanted to try to not bring you down. Just wanted to say congratulations and was really happy for you but was still caught up in myself a little bit.
“The moment when I saw mom was when I got real emotional, because, man, it was so awesome,” Jason added, getting emotional as he remembered the interaction.

“She was the heavyweight champ, man. She was on top of it and she shined the whole time,” Travis said.
“That was the coolest part. Mom, you actually killed it. Dad, you’ve been killing it.”
Jason went on: “Ironically you lose the Super Bowl, and you’re crying after the game. And they’re not tears of sadness, they’re tears of joy.”
Later in the podcast, Travis opened up about Jason being the inspiration for him to get into football.
“The crazy part is I would never be playing this damn game if it wasn’t for you.”
“Stop, yes you would,” Jason replied.
“It’s the truth, man, I followed your footsteps into it. When you started playing football… so you started playing hockey, I started playing hockey. You started playing football, I started playing football.
“I’ve kinda just been followin’ your footsteps throughout this whole gig and to go through everything leading up to this moment – or leading up to this year – and then having the year that we had, and then meeting you at the mountaintop brother, it was like we were on top of that thing together man.
“But I screwed up a few years of my life not being able to play on the field with you and I always hated Philadelphia for not giving me that opportunity knowing that I had f***ed it up so many times.
“I just wanted that one chance to, you know, team up with my dog the way that I thought it was supposed to be. And I got so much respect for the Eagles organisation.”
“And things happen for a reason man. It was cool to break the barrier of two brothers going against each other. I don’t think the story would have been the same, I don’t think the drama would have been the same.
“I don’t think people enjoy our family the same this week that they did if it’s any other way. So in a sense, I don’t hate the Eagles as much as I used to.”
Unfortunately for the pair, this year will not be a repeat of the ‘Kelce Bowl.’
Jason retired from football in 2024 after his Eagles were beaten in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This season, Travis and the Chiefs are bidding for an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat, having won last year’s showpiece against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
Travis is already regarded as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, but a fourth ring would put him in seriously rarefied air.
