Erling Haaland made history on an otherwise dire evening for Manchester City.
The Norwegian striker was on the losing side in a 5-1 hammering to Arsenal but drew Pep Guardiola‘s side level with a landmark strike.
Latching onto a clipped cross from Savinho, Haaland headed beyond David Raya to make it 1-1 after 55 minutes – a goal that put him firmly in the record books.
That goal was the 250th of the 24-year-old’s club career so far.
Not only that, but it was a header that put Haaland ahead of his peers when it came to reach the tally quickest.
Haaland took 313 matches to reach the tally of 250 goals, putting him ahead of some modern day greats.
Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo both took 451 games to hit that tally, while Harry Kane took 430 games.
Kylian Mbappe took just 332 games to hit 250 goals, scoring plenty of efforts during his time with Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and now Real Madrid.
Second on the list is Lionel Messi, who took 327 games to reach the tally.
It means that Haaland’s achievement is put into real perspective.
That record may go unnoticed by many due to Man City’s struggles against the Gunners.
Martin Odegaard took less than two minutes to put Arsenal ahead at the Emirates Stadium, before Gabriel Martinelli had a goal ruled out just a couple of minutes later.

Haaland’s leveller after 55 minutes threatened to ruin the Arsenal party, but it was Thomas Partey who restored the Gunners’ lead just a minute later with a deflected strike.
Six minutes after that, Myles Lewis-Skelly made it 3-1 to Mikel Arteta‘s side.
The youngster was playing after having his controversial red card against Wolves rescinded and celebrated his goal by mimicking Haaland’s iconic yoga pose.
Lewis-Skelly also became the youngest player to score in the Premier League against the reigning champions since Wayne Rooney netted for Everton against Arsenal in March 2003.
Kai Havertz then made it four, before Ethan Nwaneri put the contest – and potentially Man City’s title hopes – to bed.
Defeat means that City are now 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool, having played a game more.
