Real Madrid are seriously considering triggering the £50m release clause of Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, talkSPORT understands.

Huijsen has held talks with several Premier League clubs already including Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, after impressing in his breakthrough season at the Vitality Stadium.

However, Xabi Alonso, who is expected to take the reigns at Real in the summer, has now identified the Spain international as a top-priority target.

Sources close to Huijsen claim his release clause can be paid over three instalments, who is believed to favour a move to the Spanish capital.

It is understood that if the 20-year-old does not join Los Blancos, his preferred destination would be Liverpool, followed by Arsenal.

However, Huijsen’s movement could also be dictated by Real Madrid’s other transfer targets, who are believed to have an interest in both Reds’ centre-back Ibrahima Konate, whose contract expires next summer, and Gunners defender William Saliba.

News of the reigning LaLiga champions’ pursuit of Huijsen comes after talkSPORT reported last month that Chelsea had stepped up their interest in him.

But with other preferred suitors, it is unlikely the young Spaniard would opt for a move to Stamford Bridge.

Should Real ultimately choose to trigger his release clause, Huijsen could be a standout signing in what could be another extravagant summer for the European giants.

They are already set to announce the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the last two transfer windows have seen Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe head to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Huijsen has become one of the most sought-after centre-backs in European football after an impressive campaign.
