Brian Ssenyondo remains confident in his abilities to turn things around after a shocking bad start to the season at Kitara.
The highly rated youthful coach guided the Royals to the Uganda Cup in their maiden topflight campaign and finished in the top four but the 2024/25 has started on a sour note with only one win in six games and the team languishing in relegation zone.
In the aftermath of yet another home defeat to BUL on Friday, Ssenyondo who oversaw arrival of more than twelve high profile players in the transfer window was left perturbed.
“It is perturbing that we are not winning at home. If you watched the game today, we deserved to win because we did everything but the goals we concede, it is hard to explain,” he told NBS Sport.
“Before their third goal, we looked like the side to get even two goals but it didn’t happen,” he added.
Ssenyondo also dispelled rumor of having a divided camp stating everyone is pushing in the same direction.
“There is no problem. The camp is intact, the coaching staff is very good, the squad we have is very good.
“Today, everyone did their job right from the coaches to the fans but it wasn’t meant to be our day so we wait and see what happens in the next game. Fact is we must turn things around.”
On those calling for his sacking, the former Mbarara City, UPDF and Synergy tactician said he isn’t afraid of the that since it is the nature of coaching job.
“I am not afraid of the axe. I have my home and I will go and that is the nature of the coaching job. Those calling for my head, I am not shocked because even Jesus had haters.”
Kitara are on four points; all got away from home and occupy third place from bottom which they could lose if Mbale Heroes don’t lose to KCCA on Saturday.
They have scored only six goals and conceded nine in total keeping only one clean sheet in the process in their opening day 3-0 win over newcomers Lugazi.
The Royals next game is a trip to Hamz stadium, Nakivubo where URA are lurking.
