Substitute Judith Mawuwa scored a late equalizer for Wakiso Hill WFC to deny Kampala Queens maximum points as the two teams faced off on Friday at MTN-Omondi Stadium.
In what was the first game of the 2024/25 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League season, Kampala Queens took the lead midway through the second half through debutant Shamusa Najjuma but the visitors were able to level matters in stoppage time.
Kampala Queens had the better chances and indeed dominated proceedings but lacked sharpness in front of goal.
As early as the second minute, Kampala Queens captain Shamirah Nalugya hit the woodwork.
A few minutes later, she had another glorious effort but it sailed a few inches off target.
The hosts made a change midway the first half with Sumaya Nalumu replacing Catherine Nagadya who was off colour.
At the start of the second half, there were more changes for Kampala Queens with Teddy Najjuma and Anita Namata paving way for Wayodi Merceline, Zaitun Namaganda respectively.
Najjuma opened the scores five minutes after the half hour mark, finishing from close range.
However, in the first minute of added time, Wakiso Hill won a free kick outside the box and Mawuwa who had replaced Teopista Awino scored the equalizer from the resultant free kick to salvage a point for the visitors.
Action will continue on Saturday with three games. She Corporate will face Uganda Martyrs, Amus College will host Olila High School while FC Tooro Queens travel to Masindi to face Lady Doves.
