Ka′imi Fairbairn won it for the Houston Texans with a brilliant 59-yard field goal.
But the Buffalo Bills went out of their way to ensure that the Texans won 23-20 on Sunday and improved to a 4-1 record.

During one of the oddest time-management situations in recent NFL history, Buffalo decided to pass three times from its own 3-yard line with 32 seconds left on the game clock.
Josh Allen went 0-for-3 on the passes, while the Bills failed to gain a yard.
Buffalo also only took 11 seconds off the clock, leaving the Texans enough time to run one quick play and kick a game-winning field goal.
Allen deserves blame for not doing the obvious and pushing the Bills to run.
But even if Buffalo’s Pro Bowl quarterback went rogue during what was a 20-20 tie, long-frustrated Bills fans only had one person in mind when they tried to figure out what the heck happened at the end of the fourth quarter on Sunday in Houston.
Buffalo’s head coach.
“Sean McDermott should be fired instantly and not allowed on the team plane home,” one fan tweeted. “That is shockingly bad game management. What could they have possibly been thinking?! There’s having confidence in your QB and then there’s just being flat out stupid.”
“Congratulations, Sean McDermott!” a second fan posted. “You are a f****** idiot.”
“Embarrassing ending to this game for Buffalo,” a third fan wrote. “Absolutely embarrassing and Sean McDermott needs to answer for what he was thinking.”
Buffalo fell to 3-2 with the defeat, but the loss could last much longer than Sunday.

McDermott has been shadowed by questions about whether he is the right head coach to take Allen and the Bills to the next level.
In an AFC featuring superstar QBs Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, there is little room for error and every close defeat is magnified.
Buffalo rallied from a 20-3 deficit and tied the contest at 20.
If the Bills had simply run time off the clock, they would have forced overtime and had momentum on the road.
Buffalo did the opposite, giving the Texans the ball one more time in advantageous field position.
“Bills receivers dropping passes,” a fan tweeted. “Josh Allen with a terrible completion percentage. Bills heartbreak loss. Sean McDermott should be fired. Horrible time management.”
Making it even worse for Bills fans, former Buffalo wide receiver Stefon Diggs led the Texans with six catches for 82 yards.
The Bills traded Diggs to Houston during the offseason, removing Allen’s best receiver from the team.
