On Saturday night, Irene Aldana suffered what many believe to be the ‘worst cut in UFC history’.
In the final preliminary bout of UFC 306 at the Las Vegas Sphere, Aldana met Norma Dumont in a women’s bantamweight fight.

Midway through the contest, an accidental clash of heads led to a nasty gash opening up across Aldana’s forehead.
The cut spewed blood and only got worse as the fight wore on.
But somehow, the Mexican star made it through to see the final bell.
“So a nasty gash, slot machine-esque, on the forehead of Irene Aldana,” Jon Anik said on commentary.
“It was a clash of heads, the cut man did what he could, but Aldana is leaking.”
In the end, she dropped a convincing unanimous decision defeat to Dumont with scorecards of 30-27, 30-27, and 30-27 in her opponent’s favour.
However, Aldana got plenty of props for fighting through her horror cut.
One fan wrote: “That cut is rowdy man. Love the heart from Aldana.”
Another tweeted: “Gotta be the worst cut in UFC history.”
A third posted: “Aldana has 1 of the worst cuts I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Meanwhile, somebody else commented: “I think this might be the worst cut I’ve seen. And Aldana kept the pressure on. What a beast.”
Even, UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje – who is no stranger to cuts – couldn’t believe how bad the gash was.
“Has there ever been a worse cut in the UFC?” he remarked.
“#ufcnoche it looked like 7-9 inches. 50-70 stitches?”
Dumont extended her winning streak to five by beating the former world title challenger and is expected to take Aldana’s No.5 bantamweight ranking on Monday.
She is now in a very strong position to campaign for a fight with whoever emerges victorious from Raquel Pennington and Julianna Pena’s 135lbs world title clash on October 5.
