Fort City Football Club in massive recruitment drive prior to 2024-2025 season

 Fort City Football Club, a third tier football entity which features in the Kitara Regional League (Edward Group) has massively recruited in preparation for the new 2024-2025 season.

Above a dozen players have been signed to beef up the different departments; goalkeeping, defence, midfield and offense.

The club which is christened as “The Knights” signed Simon Agaba from Kigezi Homeboyz, Marvin Onyango Marvin (Tooro stars academy), Deo Ntegerize (Mbarara City) and Karim Muhindo (Relax).

Others signed include Karuguza’s duo of Frank Mabiro and Ason Kaswara (Karuguza), Ivan Aheereza (Kahunge Town Council), Joram Rugaju (Mabira Town Council), Adams Husama (Riverside Kitaka), Johnson Bright (FOTO) and Innocent Kivota (Ryakasinga).

There are two players who were acquired as free-agents (unattached to any club). These are Fortunate Mwinganiza and Paddy Luwaga Balina.

Old players:

The new players joined the army that featured last season and solidfy the squad in preparation for the new season.

The old crop has top scorer and talisman Patrick Musinguzi (12 goals), Norman Kugonza, Dancun Badru, Captain Patrick Kwezi, Ronald Obote, Ronald Alituha Nyanya, Lawrence Opoka and many others.

Technical department:

Former Sports Club Villa, KCCA, Umeme and State House defender Robert Amooti Tumusiime is the head coach.

Tumusiime, who currently holds a CAF “C” licence and is also the assistant coach at Tooro Province in the FUFA Drum competition will be deputized by Solomon Nyakairu and Gilbert Ching as his immediate assistants.

Other coaches:

Wise Kyalimpa Murungi and former KCCA, UPDF goalkeeper Douglas Kisembo Simoli are the two goalkeeping coaches.

Rolland Kambale and Joshua Mutegeki are in charge fitness for the players.

James Mwebembezi, Jude Byaruhanga and Florence Kahunde are responsible for the medical department whist the kits manager is Jeremiah Ruhuma.

The technical department and playing staff are fully supported by Joshua Ahabyona Abwooli (also known as Josh Falcon Bacwa), Tumusiime, the chief executive officer, the in charge of the secretariat who serves diligently under the strong leadership of the president Vincent Kamara Ateenyi.

 Fort City Football Club, christened as “Knights” recently transferred from individual ownership to a community club by being incorporated by URSB as a fully community Club by membership.

We urge all people from Tooro and Fort Portal Tourism city to come on board and register as members of the community club as we plan to hold an AGM. There are three membership categories; gold, silver and bronze. The new seasonal tickets and club merchandise are on market at the club offices in Kahungabunyonyi Fort Portal City.

Fort City FC players celebrate a goal last season

They commence the season on the road with an away duel on the 20th October 2024 against Bumate United Football Club in Bundibugyo.

Their first home contest will be against Mwenge Giants on 26th October 2024 at the King Oyo Sports Complex Bukwali.

Last season Fort City FC finished third on the 13 log table of the Kitara Regional League Edward Group.
