Frank Lampard has been charged with misconduct by the FA during Coventry City’s Championship clash with Burnley.
Sky Blues boss Lampard was sent off after the full-time whistle when his side lost 2-1 to Burnley in a defeat which could damage their play-off hopes.

In a statement on the club’s website, it read: “Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard has been charged with misconduct by the FA following the EFL Championship fixture against Burnley on Saturday 5th April.
“It is alleged that Lampard acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards a match official around the field of play after the final whistle, which led to his dismissal.
“The Sky Blues head coach has until Monday 14th April to respond to the charge” it concluded.
After the final whistle blew, Lampard was shown a red card by referee James Bell.
It came after the Chelsea legend confronted the officials after the game had concluded.
It had been an ideal start for Coventry who took the lead after five minutes thanks to Haji Wright.
Jaidon Anthony drew the game level for Burnley after 16 minutes, before a defensive mix-up early in the second half allowed Scott Parker‘s side to take the lead.
Confusion between Liam Kitching and Brad Collins saw Anthony pick up the ball once again, leaving him to slot home and strengthen Burnley’s position at the top of the table.
Due to his sending off, Lampard could not speak with the press after the game, meaning that his no.2, Joe Edwards, spoke instead.
Edwards told talkSPORT: “He’s calmed down. He’s come in and addressed the players and although we’ve got a very disappointed dressing room because we’ve lost the game, he’s already able to see the positives because we put in a solid performance.

“It’s clear that this season the three teams at the top have been three standout teams and with the progress we’ve made we felt like today was a chance to put a marker down.
“Of course we wanted to win the game at home which we weren’t able to do, but in terms of the performance, Burnley will leave here knowing that they were given a good game and our lads gave everything.
“We’re just proud of the performance,” he added.
The defeat left Coventry in seventh in the Championship table, with the top six guaranteed a spot in the play-offs.
However, the Sky Blues did secure a last-gasp win over Portsmouth on Wednesday night to push them into sixth in the table on 62 points.
Since Lampard took over in November, Coventry have risen from 17th in the Championship table and are now in the play-offs.

The former England star had big boots to fill too, taking over from Mark Robins, who was the longest-serving boss in the EFL.
Lampard has also brought the Sky Blues their best league run for 55 years in terms of points accumulated over a nine-game period.
The side have only lost just seven games since Lampard’s first game on November 30 and he will look to continue that momentum should the club secure a play-off spot.
Coventry next face 19th place Hull City on the road on Monday before hosting West Bromwich Albion the following Friday.
