5.10: Izipizi 4/5 (2pts)
Anna Swan
Both leaders in the betting of the 2.25 Conditions Stakes at Newbury won comfortably on debut.
But it was Anna Swan that has made the most eye catching run, winning by over five lengths at Yarmouth over 7f.
She did receive 5lb from second placed Ellaria Sand, but that was due to her previous win at Newbury and clearly to win on debut against a twice-raced winning filly, she’s open to more progress.
King Of Cities
Went very well last time out at Chester and looked as though he was still holding back somewhat with plenty to come going forward, whether up in trip or not.
He does go back up to a mile today which should suit given how he won in style over 7f.
Won by nearly two lengths at Chester, a tricky track to win at, and now this Dubawi colt can go on from what was also an encouraging debut at Newmarket.
Clearly there’s a lot of promise being shown from this horse as he has entries in the Royal Lodge Stakes next week and the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster in October.
Lake Forest
Lake Forest has been 2nd on his last two starts including at Newbury last time out in July and has been entered into two Group 2 races in August and last week, but was a non-runner for both.
Is now favourite for a race that wasn’t going to be his first or even second choice stepping up to 7f, though there’s a clear belief that this will be an ideal trip for him.
His second place behind Elite Status was a good show of his potential having also won ahead of the likes of Johannes Brahms ant Watcha Matey as a two-year-old.
His dam’s progeny suggests a step up in trip will suit well and his sire No Nay Never, had run well over 7f too.
Coto De Caza
Won twice in a row now for trainer Simon & Ed Crisford with two very convincing victories that have seen her achieve a mark of 97.
Her debut was also a great sign considering she was just a neck behind Baileys Jubilation.
Ought to progress further as she’s had plenty in hand on her two wins and looks to be a pacey and impressive filly by Sioux Nation.
Aviation Time
Aviation Time placed in some top contests including in listed company at Royal Ascot, placing 3rd of 27 in the Windsor Castle Stakes.
Below form since really as she’s now dropped 6lb and also without a win since her debut, here over course course and distance.
Return to where it started may see her make the most of her low weight back up to 6f, though goes off the same weight as last time out at Windsor.
Sands Of Marra carries 7lb more as a colt and doesn’t quite look like getting there after only a novice win at Windsor and a decent place on debut behind Arabian Sun.
He was 12th of 15 at Goodwood in Group 3 company when dropped to 5f, though will need an improvement to win over Aviation Time.
Izipizi
Receives 7lb from Native Souvenir who won on debut and will find it tough to beat the favourite Izipizi who has run well in defeat.
She was eight lengths off of Clove Hitch at Newbury who is now rated 100 as that filly has gone on to run listed and group company, though has only managed to finish five lengths off in both starts.
Izipizi was also better on debut on the all-weather over course and distance back in December, when half a length off of Friendly Soul, which has worked out incredibly well.
