Friday horse racing tips

  • EXETER
    2.10: Mark Of Gold 11/8 (1pt)
  • LEICESTER
    3.20: Immortal Flame 9/4 (1pt)
    3.55: Kosasiempre 4/1 (1pt)

Mark Of Gold

The opener at Exeter may well only have three runners but it’s set to be a close contest if the betting is anything to go by.

Joint favourites Mark Of Gold and Soul Icon are closely matched in the ratings and give plenty of weight to Range, who makes plenty of appeal for trainer Sam Thomas, who is on a great run of form this season.

However, Range has fallen twice this season and placed outside of the top three in another two contests alongside a win back in November, pretty comfortably as well.

This horse could make the most of the weights having gone well over hurdles last time out.

He wasn’t going badly at all when he fell in Grade 2 company at Ffos Las in January and could be a bit of a surprise here against some other inconsistent higher rated horses.

That said, Mark Of Gold has the far better form even if it is over 2m4f, he’s got to be fancied to win over the lower rated rival and make it a strong test for Soul Icon.

Immortal Flame

This nine-year-old has taken well to fences this season winning three in a row after a second place on seasonal debut and the progression seems to keep coming.

King Arise could be a threat having only just lost to this horse last time out but also faces a 6lb rise in the weights.

The tip has gone up just 6lb as well, so it’s all down to who can stay this extra yardage.

Immortal Flame has won over 2m6f before at Ascot and also under Cameron Iles, can go well again over 2m7f.

Kosasiempre

Mighty Moth was a big winner at Lingfield just a couple of weeks ago ahead of Fortunefavorsdbold.

But she’s been upped as much as 8lb for that victory making this a tough challenge here.

Kosasiempre may be the one to look out for here at 4/1.

She was pulled up last time out when struggling over 3m at Huntingdon back in January, in which could be down to a few reasons.

She had ran at least once a month from September and clearly there’s a truth to that as she’s been waited with for over a month for a return.

She’s also gone down back to 2m4f where she’s performed much more consistently, while also winning over 2m7f back in December.
