Friday racing tips

  • NEWBURY
    3.23: Bashers Reflection 11/8 (1pt)
    3.58: Horaces Pearl 7/4 (1pt)
    4.33: The Famous Five 7/4 (1pt)

Bashers Reflection

Bashers Reflection could improve further as he’s back for his second start since having a wind op.

It probably hasn’t worked out amazingly form wise but he’s shown ability at around this distance before, going well enough in third behind Range.

He takes on just three rivals in Berkshire and makes a solid case as the 6/4 favourite.

The Good Doctor is notable but at 2m4f is a bit of a gamble given he pulled up over this distance and has yet to win over further 2m.

Horaces Pearl

Hard to split Horaces Pearl and Pierrot Jaguen on the face of their respective form.

The former, has won in Grade 2 company at Aintree in April and then got off the mark over hurdles at the first time of asking at Huntingdon in November.

He’s not been seen since and looks to be one waited with by Fergal O’Brien to strike when the timing is right for the seven-year-old.

Pierrot Jaguen won on his second start over hurdles at Lingfield after two quick runs in January.

That win was over 2m7f and gets dropped down to 2m4f for this contest.

I think there’s got to be more to come from both of these horses but the most progressive should be Horaces Pearl who should improve a lot from his first hurdle start, that was also a win.

The Famous Five

Has some good form that has subsequently worked out well.

He placed behind Vincenzo at Windsor in December on his first chase start and that only improves his chances going forward.

Stepped up to 2m4f was encouraging and back down to 2m is also an ideal trip given the experience, beating The Good Doctor by a short head, also in December.
