FUFA has on Wednesday confirmed the appeal by KCCA FC in regard to the decision made by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel on defender Gavin Kizito Mugweri has been dismissed.
It should be noted that the FUFA Disciplinary Panel deducted three points and goals from KCCA FC for fielding Mugweri against Mbarara City FC.
The aforementioned player had accumulated three bookings and was therefore supuspended for the game against the Ankole Lions at Kakyeka Stadium.
However, KCCA FC in defence indicated they consulted from the League secretariat who gave them the clearance to field the player.
Additionally, the FUFA Competitions Matching System (CMS) also did not indicate the player was suspended.
Confirmation was however made later and Mugweri had picked his third yellow card of the season in the game against NEC FC but referee William Oloya did not indicate it in his report. The referee has since been handed a six-month ban
KCCA FC were not satisfied with the decision to be docked points and filled an appeal that has been turned down today.
“The FUFA Appeals Committee has pronounced itself in the case of KCCA FC appeal against the decision by the FUFA disciplinary Panel.” Reads the statement from the Federation
The Appeal filed by KCCA FC against the decision of the FUFA Disciplinary Panel has been dismissed.
The decision issued by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel is upheld as the FUFA Appeals Committee concluded that the FUFA Disciplinary Panel arrived at the correct decision where KCCA FC fielded an ineligible player in the Mbarara City FC Vs KCCA FC match played on 7th January 2025 and hence lost the match by forfeiture.
The FUFA Appeals Committee emphasized that it is the sole responsibility of the Club to field only eligible players. Fielding eligible players is of critical importance as it ensures high reliability and integrity of competitions.
