Manchester City quickly got back to winning ways on Tuesday night following their FA Cup final heartbreak against Crystal Palace last weekend, with Pep Guardiola’s side beating Bournemouth 3-1 to put themselves back into the Premier League’s top three.
Victory at the Etihad in midweek in their final home game of the season leaves the side effectively needing a point to guarantee their place in the Champions League next season, with the club currently two points ahead of sixth placed Aston Villa and with a much healthier goal difference.
Just three points separate third from seventh heading into the final day of the Premier League season, with five teams still fighting for the final three spots in next season’s Champions League, with City holding the advantage with a two point lead over fourth placed Newcastle.
Fulham head into their final match of the season with nothing left to play for following Brighton’s surprise win over Liverpool last weekend which left the Cottagers out of reach of a top eight finish and a small chance of securing Conference League football next season.
Marco Silva’s side start the final day sat 10th in the table, four points off eighth, with their highest possible finish being ninth as they sit just a point behind west London rivals Brentford, which would mark their highest league finish in 13 years.
The side from the capital got back to winning ways on Sunday afternoon following a run of six defeats in their last eight matches, which included four in their last five prior to their 3-2 win at Brentford last weekend.
Manchester City make the trip to west London unbeaten against the Cottagers since 2009, and have won their last 17 matches in a row against their Sunday afternoon opponents, while Silva has lost all 14 matches he’s managed against Guardiola across five different clubs.
