Gaddafi Football Club was the only entity that recorded an away victory on match day 9 of the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League.
Christened as the “Printers” after a take-over in management by the staff association of Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC), Gaddafi overcame Ntugasaza 1-0 at the Mityana Ssaza ground.
Former Vipers and Onduparaka defender Ahmed Amayo scored the all-important goal in the 5th minute of the ill-tempered match.
Gaddafi’s would be second goal in the second half from veteran forward Frank “Machette” Kalanda was disallowed for an off-side call.
Coached by promotional specialist Allan Kabonge, Gaddafi ascended to second place on the teams’ log.
Gaddafi is now having 17 points from 8 matches, first on the 15 team table standings, same number of points as Calvary but have played a game more.
“I salute the players and management for this victory as well as the fans. It is still a journey and we need to remain calm” Kabonge remarked.
Blacks Power who had a torrid time away at Onduparaka is third with 16 points.
Meanwhile, Onduparaka maintained with their impressive home run following a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Blacks Power at the Green Light Stadium in Arua city, West Nile.
The “Caterpillars” have now attained 15 points from 9 matches and lie 4th on the team table log.
Rashid Yakini opened the scoring on the stroke of the half-hour mark.
Williams Gama added the second with 15 minutes left on the clock and substitute Dominic Abonga who had come on for the ageless Samson Ceaser Okhuti netted the third goal in extra-time.
Buhimba United Saints overcame visiting Arua Hill at Kigaaya playground in Hoima 2-0 courtesy of goals from Martin Philip Opolot and Derrick Byabachwezi in the 35th and 76th minutes respectively.
Kiyinda Boys edged Kaaro Karungi 1-0 with Solomon Wafula scoring the lone goal at the Barthelem stadium.
In Bukedea district, MYDA registered their first win of the season 1-0 over Busoga United.
Allan Oyirwoth was on target for the former Uganda Premier League side.
This was MYDA’s first victory in 8 matches, remaining rock bottom with 5 points, same as Busoga United.
Mbale based Kataka football club lost two games on their West Nile expedition.
First they fell to Paidha Black Angels 1-0 at the Bar Okoro stadium in Paidha before losing 1-2 to Calvary two days later in Yumbe.
Match day 10:
The next round of games will present match day 10, commencing on 7th December until 19th December 2024.
Kigezi Home Boyz will play Kiyinda Boys at the Kigezi Homeboyz arena in Kabale on Saturday, 7th December 2024.
Five matches will then come on Sunday, 8th December 2024. Busoga United shall host Ntugasaze at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe in Jinja city.
Booma takes on Buhimba United Saints at the Masindi stadium, Blacks Power entertains Paidha Black Angels at Akii Bua Memorial stadium in Lira.
In Mbale city, Kataka will face Onduparaka at the city stadium whilst Kaaro Karungi will entertain Calvary at the Kyamate stadium, Ntungamo.
On 19th December 2024, Arua Hill will face MYDA at Pece War Memorial stadium in Gulu city.
Three clubs will be promoted to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the end of the 2024-2025 FUFA Big League season in May 2025.
