Uganda Women’s National Basketball Team (Gazelles) head coach Nicholas Natuhereza has named a final squad ahead of Afrobasket Zone V Qualifiers.

A squad of 12 players has been selected to help Uganda secure a spot in the final Afrobasket tournament.

To achieve the feat, Uganda will take on nations such as Egypt (hosts), Kenya, Burundi and South Sudan.

The tournament is set to tip off on Monday, February 3 and will run until Saturday, February 8.

The team started training on Tuesday, February 21 before shifting to a residential camp in Nakirebbe on Thursday, February 27.

Uganda hosted the qualifiers in 2023 but failed to get a straight ticket to the finals after falling to Egypt in the final.

However, the Gazelles received a wild card and staged a stunning show finishing seventh in the final tournament.
